Aquaman’s newest TV spot shows off Mera’s powers and more of who our superhero is
A new Aquaman TV spot offers more details about who our hero is, where he comes from, plus some epic powers for Amber Heard’s Mera.
The promotional push for the DCEU’s upcoming Aquaman solo outing is ramping up now that there are only about two months left until the film hits theaters. With this push comes a brand new TV spot that not only reveals more about our hero and where comes from, but also some spotlight on Amber Heard’s Mera and the epic abilities she’s working with.
In the video, we first see Aquaman being confronted in a bar by locals asking him if he was the “fish boy” they had been seeing on TV. When he responds, the humor of the moment is not lost on us as he responds “fish man.” (We all know he hates when people discuss what some describe as his ability to “talk to fish.”)
The TV spot also shows us Aquaman’s mother, played by Nicole Kidman, as she prepares to give birth to Arthur/Aquaman, alongside his father. It is a moment that is sweet and touching, while also reminding us that while this couple may have loved each other and their unborn son, their future was not a happy one.
But perhaps the best part of the video is the fact that we get to see a bit more of Mera. We have the chance to see her abilities at work, which is something we have not seen enough of at this point.
This promo proves that Mera is certainly powerful in her own way thanks to her hydrokinetic abilities (which basically means she has power over water and can make water move). We definitely think this will come in handy as she works alongside Aquaman in order to save both land and sea from King Orm’s desire to conquer the world of man.
While this new TV spot mostly gives us clips we have seen before, each of those scenes is expanded upon just enough to give us something more to sink our teeth into. We love seeing Mera in action and proving she can stand strong with Aquaman, while also learning more about our hero’s life and world.
