J.K. Rowling could write for Doctor Who, Executive Producer & Showrunner Chris Chibnall wants it to happen
By Callum Gunn
Executive producer & showrunner of Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall, confirmed that he would really like Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, to write for the show.
Just imagine it, Doctor Who and the Wizarding World coming together. It’s something that executive producer & showrunner of Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall would like to see happen, something which he confirmed during New York Comic-Con.
The showrunner also confirmed that Rowling was in negotiations with former showrunner Russell T. Davies to pen an episode for the sci-fi series during the time that David Tennant played the Time Lord. Nothing ever materialized from this obviously, but Chibnall made it very clear that if Rowling is still interested he would certainly welcome her on board.
Praising her amazing writing and the Harry Potter franchise, he said:
"“If JK Rowling wants to have anything to do with Doctor Who, please give her my phone number.”“I think she is one of our greatest living writers.”"
Both the worlds of Harry Potter and Doctor Who have crossed paths before. David Tennant, the 10th Time Lord in the Doctor Who series, appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr. John Hurt, who played Mr. Ollivander is also a former Time Lord, and Zoe Wanamaker, who played Madame Hooch in Harry Potter, featured in Doctor Who as Lady Cassandra.
