A female-led Grimm spinoff is in the works, and we hope these characters return

Grimm fans rejoice! NBC is apparently working on a spinoff with a female lead that may give us another look at the characters we came to know and love over six seasons.

Last year, fans of the supernatural series Grimm on NBC had to say goodbye to their favorite group of mythical and not so mythical characters. But, according to Deadline, the end of season 6 may not be the end for some of our favorite characters after all.

A spinoff is in the works and it will apparently introduce us to a new, female Grimm. Along with a new supernatural guardian, there will be other new characters and potential mythical creatures as well. While there is no word yet as to who may star in the series or when it will happen, NBC has excited Grimm fans with the hope of new mysteries, dangers, and perhaps even a new location.

While there is no word yet as actors and actresses who may be attached to star or even when this may be happening, NBC will be bringing fans new mysteries, new dangers, and maybe even a new location. We also can spend some time speculating as to who could appear in this revised Grimm series.

Who could play the new female Grimm?

Some younger actresses we think could be an excellent addition to the cast (or even be the star of the series) include Madeline Carroll, Elizabeth Gillies, Sammi Hanratty, and Liana Liberato.

All of these actresses are versatile performers who have proven that they can steal the show. Each of these young women could lead a new generation of Grimm fans into the world of the supernatural. Whether they are the lead in the show or come in as a new character, they could add much-needed youth and freshness to this universe.

Who could return to Grimm?

And while we are certainly excited for a whole new cast of characters, it seems there is hope for some of our favorites to return as well. Deadline indicated that this offshoot of the original series will “feature some original cast members, regular or recurring.”

If the Grimm spinoff happens, we of course have ideas for who we’d love to see return. The original star of the series, David Giuntoli who played Nick Burkhardt, is at the top of our list.

Honestly, we think it makes sense to bring back Giuntoli even on a recurring or guest starring role. He could be a mentor for a new guardian, teaching her about the hidden world of mythological creatures. Plus, as someone who has been both a Grimm and a police detective, he has particular skill with navigating through it.

Another character we would love to see come back is Monroe, played by Silas Weir Mitchell. He was a trusted companion to Nick and helped him learn more about his heritage and the supernatural world around him. Even if he just makes a cameo appearance, having him show up in the spinoff would make it feel like the series was truly official.

And you can’t have Monroe without Rosalee, played by Bree Turner. As his wife, it makes sense that she would be there alongside him. Her knowledge of potions and herbs always made her a valuable member of the team, and we could totally see her back in action, even if it is as just the owner of the shop where people show up for help.

Hank, played by Russell Hornsby, would be a fun guest star as well. He knew about Nick for a long time, and stood by him through so many ups and downs. And we think it would be awesome to have him share his perspective on being a partner to a Grimm , whoever the new female guardian of the supernatural is.

We definitely want Sergeant Wu, played by Reggie Lee back. And we don’t mean as a guest star or a cameo appearance. He needs to play as big a role in the new series as he did in the original, because his wit and dry humor were the perfect foil for Nick and Hank.

He may have learned about this supernatural world a bit later than the rest, but after problems accepting it all, he blended in with the rest of the team seamlessly. We just want more Wu, and if that means having him as a regular or recurring character we are down for that.

Finally, we would love to see Trubel, played by Jacqueline Toboni, be a part of the new female-led Grimm. Not only is she one of these fabled guardians herself, but she worked with Nick and learned from him. We think Trubel would make a great addition to the new series in many ways. She was always strong and independent, with a loyalty that no one can really argue with. Even when she was not working alongside Nick, she was still willing to help him. We think she could be a great addition to make the series actually work in the long run.

light. Read. A female-led superhero TV show from Marvel could be coming to ABC

These are definitely a few of our favorites we’d love to see return to Grimm. Do you agree with these picks or have some suggestions of your own? Let us know in the comments!
