Pippa Middleton gives birth to first child, making Kate Middleton an aunt
Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews just experienced the miracle of birth for the first time, greeting a baby boy.
In the wake of Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement, Pippa Middleton has her own exciting baby news. Middleton and her husband James Matthews were thrilled to greet their first child on Monday at 1:58 p.m., and it was a big boy!
Pippa Middleton and first-born baby doing well
Middleton’s baby weighed an impressive 8 lbs. 9 oz., reported People.
“Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well,” said the representative for Kate Middleton’s sister to People.
Kensington Palace also issued a statement for Kate Middleton, and her husband (Pippa’s brother-in-law), describing the couple as “thrilled for Pippa and James.”
Kate Middleton becomes first-time aunt
In addition to her Duchess of Cambridge title, Kate now can proudly use the title of “aunt” for the very first time. We’re guessing that in her role as big sister and doting aunt, Kate will help to guide first-time-mommy Pippa through her baby’s first weeks at home.
When Kate gave birth to Prince Louis in April, Pippa was one of the little boy’s first visitors. It’s likely that Aunt Kate will be one of the first to visit Pippa’s and James’ new baby in return.
Just like Kate, Pippa welcomed her baby in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital. Kate gave birth to all three of her royal babies at that same location.
What will life be like for Pippa Middleton’s baby?
While Kate’s and William’s children sometimes attend royal events, an insider told People that Pippa and her husband anticipate “leading a quiet life” after having children. But that quiet life doesn’t exclude having plenty of playmates!
In the spring, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will welcome their own first baby. Add in Kate’s and William’s children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis), and play dates should be lively. In addition, Matthews has a younger brother, Spencer Matthews. And he his wife, model Vogue Williams, greeted their own first child, a little boy, early in September.
