Lady Gaga reveals her and Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born pact
Lady Gaga opens up about how she and Bradley Cooper made a very special pact behind the scenes to succeed in their roles for A Star Is Born.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper seemed at first to be an odd couple when news of their A Star Is Born roles spread. But that odd couple turned into the dynamic duo, with the recently released remake of the classic film earning rave reviews and impressive box office numbers.
Now Lady Gaga has opened up to the Sydney Morning Herald to describe how she and Cooper formed a very special pact before starting work on the movie.
Gaga recalled how she and Cooper relied on each other. While A Star Is Born gave the songstress her very first role as a leading actress in a mainstream feature movie, Cooper faced the challenge of realistically portraying a rock star.
So the singer and actor came up with a very special way to promise to help and support each other in their respective challenges. Gaga and Cooper shook hands and made a pact.
That handshake, Gaga says now, was “the most crucial thing” in working with each other. He told her that he believed in and accepted her as an actress. In turn, she told him she believed in and accepted him as a musician. “I think that exchange was what really held the collaboration so strongly together,” summed up Gaga.
However, Gaga didn’t just support Cooper in his role as a rock star musician. She influenced the creation of A Star Is Born, persuading him to film the music performances live.
The pair even collaborated on some of the music, performing their songs at festivals. The decision to film their performances live is earning credit for part of their on-screen chemistry, and Gaga is delighted at the realistic results that the plan produced in the film.

“I dislike it when I’m watching a movie and you can tell they’re lip-syncing,” admitted the songstress.
