Betty, Jughead, Archie, and Veronica have their work cut out for them on Riverdale this season.

Riverdale left us on quite the cliffhanger and season 3 starts with Archie Andrews waiting to see if he is going to jail for a murder he didn’t commit. The New York Comic Con panel for Riverdale treated fans to the first 10 minutes of the new season. We watched as Archie and his friends try to spend one last weekend together before the judge delivers his sentence.

While the panel couldn’t give away too many secrets, we do know offers an exciting look at what’s to come to the students from Riverdale.

Jughead and Betty are happy

Lili Reinhart spoke on how she and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa approached the Jughead and Betty relationship in season 3. Though Cole Sprouse wasn’t there, we still got a lot of Bughead content to make us happy. That being said, we’re also going to get a return to the Jughead and Betty from season 1 where they team up to solve crimes.

Fred punches Hiram

From the clip shown at NYCC, we see Hiram Lodge approach Archie after his case is dismissed for the day. Hiram tells him to enjoy his weekend, putting an ominous twist to the judge’s decision and Fred isn’t having it. Finally, Fred Andrews punches Hiram dead in the face — this moment was a long time coming.

Jellybean and Gladys Jones are coming

Get ready to meet the Joneses! Gina Gershon and Trinity Rose Likins join the cast as Gladys and Jellybean Jones, meaning we get to see Jughead with his mother after all this time. The news comes after learning that Alice and FP will also have a relationship this season.

Magic in Riverdale?

We know that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is coming to Netflix and when asked about Sabrina taking a dip in Riverdale, Roberto said that we wouldn’t see her this season but a crossover episode wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. From what we saw of the trailer, it almost seems like the show is trying to have a darker and more magical tone so who knows, maybe season 4 will start with a bit of the Spellman family?

Archie takes up boxing

Maybe he ends up in jail or maybe he just wants to defend himself but whatever the case may be, we know that Archie takes up boxing. Each season, Archie delves into a new athletic venture. But boxing? Perhaps this is more so something he takes on to try and defend himself. Hopefully this is an innocent choice on Archie’s part…
