Mark Hamill wants Carrie Fisher to receive her Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously to coincide with the release of Episode IX of Star Wars.
The legacy of Carrie Fisher will live on in the hearts of fans of her work as well as in the Star Wars films. While many fans were devastated after her loss, we can all take solace in knowing that her co-star and friend Mark Hamill is doing his best to ensure her legacy continues on.
Mark Hamill is attempting to launch a campaign to convince the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to put in a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honor Carrie Fisher.
He posted about his efforts on Twitter Tuesday morning and asked fans to help him out.
Carrie WILL get her well-deserved Star on the Walk of Fame, it's only a matter of when. The rule is a 5-year wait when awarded posthumously. A letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce wouldn't hurt, urging them to time it to the release of #EpIX⭐️#AlwaysWithUs pic.twitter.com/CVMX1csDwJ

While normally Walk of Fame stars aren’t delivered posthumously until five years later, Hamill is hoping that her star will be installed to coincide with the release of Star Wars Episode IX. He also asked fans to reach out by sending a letter. Fans can also use the hashtag that Hamill himself was using #AlwaysWithUs.
Fans have already showed an outpour of support for Hamill and his push to get Fisher her star early.
That's a silly rule, and if anyone was about breaking silly rules...

While posthumous Walk of Fame stars are awarded each year, the five-year wait period is the norm. Other stars who have received Hollywood stars after passing away include John Denver and Steve Irwin.
Hamill received his star on the Walk of Fame this year in March, and the ceremony was attended by his co-star Harrison Ford as well as George Lucas.
We love seeing the love and support that the Star Wars cast has for each other, and we love seeing Hamill work to honor Fisher’s memory. It’s very heartwarming, and we agree that Carrie Fisher deserves that star as soon as possible.
