Daredevil: 5 things we learned at the NYCC panel

Matt Murdock is alive, Bullseye is coming, and Fisk just wants Vanessa back. We learned all this and more at the Daredevil panel at New York Comic Con!

New York Comic Con didn’t give us a full Daredevil episode — but we did get glimpses into what season 3 holds for Matt Murdock. While he’s alive and trying to get back what he lost, Matt Murdock isn’t the only Daredevil in town.

Returning to Netflix on Oct. 19, the show has a lot of unanswered questions to answer.

Matt Murdock is alive

The last we knew of Matt Murdock, all his friends believed him to be dead. Clearly, he’s fine, but to Karen and Foggy, they aren’t exactly sure what is going on and Matt is no longer Daredevil. At the panel, we have seen clips from the show but the entire episode will have to wait until it premieres.

Bullseye and Fisk team up

The clips that Marvel did let us see revealed how Fisk (or Kingpin, if you will) and Bullseye (Agent Poindexter is the latest villain to the series) meet up. When Fisk is willing to sell information for Vanessa, Poindexter stops it by killing everyone trying to transport Fisk and joining a team with him.

Hello Sister Maggie

We were introduced to Sister Maggie. In the comics, Sister Maggie is the long-lost mother to Matt Murdock, so it will be interesting to see if the show follows along with that storyline. In the clip, Sister Maggie is helping nurse Matt back to health, and when he asks if he can stay at the home where he grew up, she tells him no and he has to move on.

Sad Matt Murdock

Would it be Daredevil if Matt Murdock wasn’t at least a little sad about what was going on? Sure enough, he is very ‘woe is me’ throughout most the clips, struggling to get through what happened to him in The Defenders and beyond. Even in his fight with Bullseye, we can see that he’s not even up to par with how he normally fights.

One take fight sequence

We weren’t shown the clip, but Jeph Loeb and Eric Olsen talked about a scene that rivals the hallway fight scene from season 1. One continual take, the scene is apparently between Bullseye and Matt and that’s all we know.

It is going to be nice to see Matt Murdock on screen once more in his own show. Last time we saw just a Daredevil show was back in 2016 and now we get to have Matt taking on Bullseye? This is one season you won’t want to miss!
