The 100: Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley and EP Jason Rothenberg preview season 6 at New York Comic Con
The 100’s leads Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor along with EP Jason Rothenberg preview what awaits our survivors in the new world.
As The 100 heads for its sixth season, fans of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi are eager to see what’s to come for Earth’s survivors as they head to a new world.
In the season 5 finale, we learned Monty and Harper stayed awake while everyone they knew dozed off into cryosleep. They did so in order to find a new home for the human race, as Earth became uninhabitable, possibly forever, thanks to the Damocles Event.
125 years later, Bellamy and Clarke awake to meet Monty and Harper’s son, Jordan, and learn that their next adventure is somewhat similar to the one they had in season 1. They, along with well over a 100 people now, must descend upon this new world with the hope that it may offer a new life for them all.
Culturess spoke with Eliza Taylor (Clarke Griffin), Bob Morley (Bellamy Blake) and executive producer Jason Rothenberg during a press roundtable at New York Comic Con to find out we can expect for the sixth season of The 100.
Welcome to the “new” new world
For starters, there is a brand new world to explore with plenty of surprises and challenges for Earth’s survivors — who, in a sense, are aliens now, right? Rothenberg shares that in season 6, we will definitely learn what has become of Eligius III and how the inhabitants of this new world have “grown up around that mission.”
With a new world comes new landscapes and environments — apparently beautiful ones as Rothenberg has teased on Twitter.
Rothenberg shared recently on his social media that the set for season 6 is “the most insane set we’ve ever built” and it is “huge, illogical (in a good way), and beautiful.” At NYCC, we learned that this planet will be unlike anything The 100 has ever shown us before.
“It’s colorful and beautiful and it’s not an ugly… post-apocalyptic dark world,” Rothenberg says. “The planet is lush. It’s got two suns. So, the light is very different. It’s got a feature at night — that I can’t really talk about — that colors the night sky and the nightlife in a way that is beautiful.”
Clarke’s next “relationship”
Along with what is looking to be a beautiful new planet to explore, Clarke and Bellamy along with the rest of Earth’s survivors will come across those who landed here long ago — the survivors from Eligius III.
One such Eligius III descendant is Russel, played by J.R. Bourne. Russel is described as a leader as well as a visionary and pioneer who rules over a peaceful society. According to Eliza Taylor, who plays Clarke Griffin, her character and Russel are going to have a “very, very bizarre relationship.”
Can Bellamy ever forgive Octavia?
If strange relationships between Earth’s survivors and those of this new planet isn’t complex enough, season 6 will also revisit strained ones amongst our core characters. It goes without saying that the most complicated of all relationships on The 100 is the one between Bellamy Blake and his sister, Octavia.
Bob Morley, who plays Bellamy, explains that at the start of season 6, these two are not in a good place.

“I honestly feel like Bellamy doesn’t really see Octavia anymore when he looks at her,” Morley says. “I feel like he’s seeing Blodreina or Red Queen. In order for him to be able to get past that, I think that Octavia, not for him… but for her own sake, needs to go on a personal journey, really rediscover who she is, before Bellamy can see her in that same light as a sister.”
Morley previews a difficult journey ahead for Octavia in season 6 by saying “there’s gonna be some repercussions for her” while she tries to rediscover herself.
Waking up is hard to do
During the last time jump on The 100, those on Earth and those in space were separated for six years and were definitely affected by the torment of that separation. This time around, it’s technically been 125 years but for Earth’s survivors, it’s really going to feel like one really restful one night’s sleep.
Rothenberg says that due to this, several emotional journeys are going to get picked up right where they left off. Clarke will have to deal with the fact she left Bellamy to die in the fighting pits. As we mentioned, Octavia and Bellamy’s own relationship will be strained and she’ll also have to face quite a few people who may not have agreed with her rule as Blodreina.

Will Earth’s survivors finally be “the good guys”?
Monty’s final words to Bellamy and Clarke are a stark reminder of everything these two have learned over the past five seasons. On this new planet, they as well as everyone else have an amazing chance to start anew and hopefully learn from their past. Granted, if everyone was going to live happily ever after under two suns, we wouldn’t have an entertaining sixth season.
Morley shares that at least for Bellamy, he’s going to try and follow Monty’s mantra to be a better person. As for Bellamy’s co-leader of sorts, we can expect to see Clarke experience both emotional and physical challenges. Perhaps more emotional challenges though, Taylor teased.
When asked to describe season 6 in a few words, Taylor shares that The 100 will have ” a great new energy about it.”
The 100‘s season 6 release date has yet to be announced, but is expected to air next spring.
