Netflix has confirmed that Daredevil Season 3 is going to introduce Bullseye, by way of his comic book alter ego, Benjamin Poindexter.
It’s official, we now know exactly who Wilson Bethel will be playing once Daredevil season 3 begins streaming. The actor, who many people might remember from Hart of Dixie, is set to play Benjamin Poindexter, the alter ego of the villain Bullseye.
Since it was announced that Bethel would be joining the cast, there has been plenty of speculation that he would be playing the part of Bullseye, although Netflix and Marvel would not confirm the news. However, now it seems official, as ScreenRant has reported that Netflix has announced who Wilson Bethel is playing and depending on the storyline of the comics, it is clear that he is Bullseye.
In the Marvel Universe, Benjamin Poindexter is one of many fake names that Bullseye uses as an alter ego. In the Ultimate Universe, it is actually his birth name. So, either way, we know Bethel is Bullseye, but we don’t know how much of the arch nemesis of Daredevil we will actually see.
Based on the recent trailer for season 3, we know Wilson Fisk has hired someone to tarnish Daredevil’s reputation by donning his mask and pretending to be him. And while it is not made clear that it is Poindexter, for fans of Wilson Bethel, we recognize that voice.
This means that even if we are getting Bullseye in the form of Bethel, we don’t really know how much of him (Bullseye that is) we will see. Instead, we are getting a faux-Daredevil, as the mercenary takes on multiple personas in the season.
Perhaps we will see what we have seen in other Marvel TV series (including Daredevil), an origin story of sorts; a chance to watch as Benjamin Poindexter evolves into Bullseye. All it takes is looking to the Punisher and even Daredevil himself, as both of these men evolved into their characters. But if this is true, then we may not see Bullseye really come into his own until the end of the season, which could mean a Bullseye versus Daredevil showdown wouldn’t happen until the fourth season (if there is one).
And we can’t think of anything better than watching Wilson Bethel not only bring to life the mercenary behind Bullseye, but also the fake Daredevil. While we certainly hope to see Bullseye make his official debut, at least we know it is possible and the character will be teased at, if nothing else.
Daredevil is set to begin streaming on Netflix Oct. 19, which means we will learn the truth of Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter soon.
