Spider-Man PS4’s lead writer shares details of the upcoming DLC with Black Cat

Spider-Man for PS4 has only been out a month now and already, we have downloadable content heading our way. And thanks to the games lead writer we have details.

Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 lead writer Jon Paquette revealed details about the upcoming DLC that gamers will be able to get their hands on starting Oct. 23. And while there are going to be three modules of new content released, Paquette revealed details about this first one that make it clear we aren’t getting cast offs from the cutting room floor.

Speaking to Polygon, Paquette explained that they wanted to make sure they gave people playing the game the things they want to see more of, especially the characters they seem to be reacting positively to. But at the same time, it is all about keeping the game fresh and fun, so they decided to “focus on distinct characters” from within the main storyline.

The three module arc is called The City That Never Sleeps, and will start off with an entry called “The Heist.” This entry will focus on one of the side-story characters who Spider-Man interacted with in the game, Black Cat.

According to Jon Paquette, they did not put Black Cat’s story aside to be forgotten, but instead they wanted to make sure they could properly flesh her story out — which meant making her part of the DLC rather than the main game.

If you have completed the main story of the game and are working on some of the side missions, Paquette is recommending that players, “should be focused on a lot of the storytelling we do in the open world.” He explained that unless you have earned the platinum trophy, “there’s probably things that you haven’t discovered yet.”

Even if you have discovered all the things, there is still plenty to come, which is certainly exciting for those of us who found ourselves enjoying this game and its high quality. Not only are we getting more characters, but there will be more missions to take on and even new costumes for Spider-Man to don.

We are excited to not only take on Black Cat and discover what she has in store for us in “The Heist,” but also learn what the other two DLCs will feature. While we don’t know what “Turf Wars” and “Silver Lining,” the other two modules, have in store for us yet, at least we know the mission is far from over for Spider-Man.

The first new DLC, “The Heist,” is available starting Oct. 23, followed by “Turf Wars” in November and “Silver Lining” in December.
