American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 4: It’s warlocks vs. witches
It’s warlocks versus witches on American Horror Story: Apocalypse this week in “Could It Be…Satan?” Finally, a few questions are answered.
This week, we’re started off with a flashback of Langdon and Ms. Meade, back when she wasn’t a robot but his adopted mother. She tells him about poisoning her three husbands, and they pray to Satan. It was almost a sweet scene despite all the Satanism.
Back at Outpost Three, Cordelia, Myrtle, and Madison reveal that Coco and Mallory had both been placed under an identity spell. The witches and Langdon have a small confrontation where they insist that they will save the world and Langdon says he has already won.
Three Years Before the Apocalypse
We flashback to Outpost Three to when it was a school for warlocks. No offense to the Coven, but they seem to have had things together as far as teaching their pupils goes. The leaders and teachers of the school watch a video of Michael Landon being interrogated by a police officer for killing someone. In the video, he kills the officer by exploding his head. They argue whether they should protect him or not, or if his magic is too dark. They talk about a prophecy that tells of an Alpha, a warlock whose magic exceed the witches magic and takes over their supreme.
It looks like another popular fan theory has come true as the episode sets up a witches vs. warlocks/men vs. women storyline.
We see the warlocks bring Langdon to Outpost Three to be taught as a warlock. The warlocks evaluate Langdon’s powers. We learn that the warlocks have different powers than the witches potential as their tests include things such as scrying, transportation, and changing the weather. Langdon passes their test with flying colors until he takes things to far, nearly killing the council of warlocks.
Coven
We are back in New Orleans again with the Coven before the Apocalypse. Zoe is teaching some new witches. It looks like the Coven has their school together now, too, as things are very different than they were three years ago. One of the witches is Mallory, and Cordelia and Zoe discuss how powerful she is.
Myrtle, Zoe, and Madison arrive at the Hawthorne School for Exceptional Young Men (Outpost Three) when the warlocks call a council. In the meeting, they tell the witches that they have a candidate who could become a male Supreme. Cordelia explains that men aren’t as powerful as women when it comes to magic. We learn that Queenie somehow became trapped in the Hotel Cortez from season 2. Cordelia went to try and rescue her. Cordelia realizes then that the hotel is a dark and satanic place. She isn’t able to save Queenie from the hotel as Queenie can’t leave the place.
Cordelia refuses to let Langdon attempt to perform the Seven Wonders.
Hotel
Langdon arrives at the Hotel Cortez and says he is there to free Queenie where her Supreme could not.
We then see Madison who is working in a department store. We learn that this is Madison’s hell. She is still in an afterlife. Langdon and Queenie show up to free Madison. Langdon tells them that he needs them both to prove a point. As Cordelia, Zoe, and Myrtle are leaving the Outpost, they see run into Langdon, Queenie, and Madison. Cordelia falls to the ground as though overcome by some force, and the episode ends.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
