Paul Rudd knew about the Infinity War snap before everyone else

While many in the cast of Avengers: Infinity War didn’t know about the Thanos snap until they filmed their death scenes, it seems Paul Rudd did know for one cool reason.

It turns out being multi-faceted in Hollywood can have some perks. For Paul Rudd, being one of the screenplay writers on Ant-Man and the Wasp gave him an amazing advantage when it came to Avengers: Infinity War. Before Infinity War, the actor actually knew about the Thanos snap, because he was in the writer’s room.

In an interview with Marvel Entertainment’s This Week in Marvel, Rudd had the chance to talk about not only Infinity War, but also his work on Ant-Man and the Wasp. However, while we are all excited to learn more about what went into the follow-up to Marvel’s Ant-Man, that wasn’t the information that stuck out to us.

Instead, it was the fact that Paul Rudd shared the news that he was aware of what was to come by saying, “I knew about it because I’m one of the writers on the script. So I was aware of the some of the things like that we saw in Infinity War. I feel like I’m being let in on some government secrets.”

And we agree, he was definitely let in on some major government secrets being a part of the writing process. In fact, he even said that he finds it strange to be let in on these kinds of secrets knowing how few people actually know what is going to happen.

But the thing we took away from the interview was that this means Ant-Man knew about the snap heard round the universe long before everyone else on the Avengers team did and he kept the secret! And Rudd acknowledges that he was extremely secretive and refused to spill the beans to anyone, even friends who tried to hit him up for more information.

The fact that Paul Rudd knew about the Thanos snap makes us wonder if anyone else knew or had an idea of what was to come. But considering none of the other members of the Avengers are credited as writers on their movies or with Infinity War itself, it has us thinking that Rudd might just be a special case. He is one of the few actors in the main MCU crew who is also a screenwriter and is involved so hands-on with the films he works on.

He might play one of the smallest superheroes in the MCU, but Paul Rudd can clearly keep one of the biggest secrets of Avengers: Infinity War. Now we wonder what else he knows and isn’t telling us.
