Leaked video of a Harry Potter RPG has fans excited

Leaked footage of what appears to be a Harry Potter RPG has Potter fans everywhere ready to join Hogwarts in a new, exciting way.

Footage from what is likely a Harry Potter RPG game being developed was leaked Monday morning on Reddit. The footage was shared by user VapeThisBro, who recorded footage while at a survey group.

According to IGN, the footage was also shared on YouTube on Oct. 1, but was taken down on the site on Tuesday morning. The text over the deleted video reads, “This video contains content from Warner Bros. Entertainment Interactive, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.”

This could just be because the video contains Harry Potter music and logos which would be an example of copyright infringement. But, it could also mean that the game is actually being developed and was specifically targeted by WB to be pulled down.

The second-hand video (which is seen here on Tumblr), shows an RPG game that includes exciting features like character customization, Hogwarts houses, and locations from the world such as Hogsmeade and The Great Hall. It appears that players can use spells like Stupefy and Expelliarmus to defeat enemies.

The Reddit user who posted the footage also posted a description of the game:

"Set in the 19th Century (1800’s) Wizarding World, this 3rd person open-world action RPG game centers around your character with unique abilities who has eared (sic) a late acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You are a newly arrived 5th year student to Hogwarts that demonstrates a latent gift for magic with a unique ability to track and identify remnants of a pottant (sic) ancient power.Upon arrival, strange events begin to materialize In the Forbidden Forest and trouble begins o (sic) brew within the castle walls. Together with Professor Eleazar Fig, you embark on a journey through both familiar and never before seen locations to bring to light the truth behind these mysterious occurrences."

We have to be real here. Like much of the internet, we are freaking out about this. It looks like you can do many things like craft potions, master spells, and discover magical creatures as you battle dark creatures and wizards.

According to Variety, a BBC journalist says that the game is real and will be called Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.

Features of the game appear to be a choice between eight different wizard types, making friends, discovering new secrets, and free-play that allows you to explore the wizarding world. You can also choose your house and pursue either a good or evil path.

Fans have hoped for an RPG game set in the universe for many years, and it looks like it is finally happening. Since Warner Brother created its Harry Potter gaming division, Portkey Games, last year, it makes sense that more games are being developed.

While the game hasn’t been totally confirmed yet, things are looking pretty good for Potter fans.
