Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel will reunite for a wonderful Wicked TV concert

Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are reuniting as Elphaba and Glinda to celebrate Wicked’s 15th anniversary this Halloween.

Wicked has been on Broadway for 15 years now, and in celebration of the anniversary, the two original stars will be reuniting. Excuse us for a second while we screech in excitement.

Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth were the first to play Elphaba and Glinda when the musical arrived in New York City in 2003. While now these characters are well-known as a pop culture phenomenon, it’s likely in part because of their stellar performances that the show went on to be such a smashing hit.

The two will be headlining a tribute concert that will be shown on NBC called A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway. This event will feature songs from the musical, and Menzel and Chenoweth are set to perform again together. The tribute concert will also feature performances from the current Broadway company as well as special guests such as Ariana Grande and Pentatonix.

According to the NBC Entertainment press release:

"Wicked is a blockbuster musical playing all over the world and still selling out night after night after 15 years on Broadway, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Emmy and Tony-winning producer Marc Platt and the entire Wicked team to celebrate the enduring success of this show."

If you’re a fan of Wicked, this is going to be a delicious Halloween treat that you definitely won’t want to miss. And according to Doug Vaughan, an executive at NBC Entertainment, we’ll be in for a lot more treats than tricks this Halloween.

“We’re especially excited to have Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reunited along with big guest stars in front of an audience — in costume hopefully — to help us celebrate the Halloween season,” Vaughn said.

We really hope the two do show up in costume. Many fans of the musical never got to see the two perform, and it would be pretty amazing to get a chance to see them in costume on stage one more time. This would definitely give many fans the chance to see them recreate the magic.

Wicked is one of the most well-known Broadway shows and definitely one of the most successful in recent years. We are pretty excited to see the two of them reunite as these characters and will be anxiously waiting to tune in. Now, we just hope they’ll hurry up with the movie already.

A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway will air Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
