Telltale Games may finish The Walking Dead: The Final Season. These are the biggest questions fans need answered if they do complete the series.

Update – September 26, 2018: Telltale Games has pulled The Walking Dead: The Finale Season from digital storefronts. The second chapter of the four-part series was initially scheduled to release Tuesday, September 25.

Per GOG.com:

"Telltale has requested a temporary pause of sales of The Walking Dead – Final Season. For all up to date Telltale news, please refer to their official Twitter page."

The developer has not released any further details at this time.

Telltale Games initially worried fans of The Walking Dead video game series with reports of massive layoffs and possibly having to end The Final Season early. But there may just be a sliver of hope that Clem and AJ’s story will be finalized.

An official statement by Telltale concerned fans that The Walking Dead: The Final Season would end after just two episodes, noting it had laid off all but 25 employees who’d stick around to finish projects before the developer closed its doors for good.

"Today Telltale Games made the difficult decision to begin a majority studio closure following a year marked by insurmountable challenges. A majority of the company’s employees were dismissed earlier this morning, with a small group of 25 employees staying on to fulfill the company’s obligations to its board and partners."

The Walking Dead: The Final Season‘s first episode came out August 14 and the second was due September 25. Over social media, fans have stressed about the The Final Season ending early. There’s also been a good deal of anger sent Telltale’s way, following negative coverage of how employees were treated.

The Final Season focuses on Clementine (who was featured in many other installments of the series) and her adopted son AJ. Melissa Hutchison, the voice of Clementine, shared a heartfelt message to fans of the series on September 22, noting she herself did “not have details on how this all came to be” and does not know “the fate of the final season of TWD.”

The Walking Dead: The Final Season may just be saved though, via a new tweet shared by Telltale.  The developer’s remaining staff promise fans they’re “actively working towards a solution” that will hopefully complete Clem and AJ’s story with an episode 3 and 4.

Who these “potential partners” are is unclear, and how The Final Season will wrap up is equally a mystery. Below are the top questions fans have for the series that will hopefully be answered, as long as Telltale finishes the final episodes.

Will they both survive in the end?

In The Final Season, Clem is only 16 years old. While she has grown-up in front of our eyes in these games, she is still so young. AJ is only five in this installation. A 16-year-old taking care of a 5-year-old during the zombie apocalypse is a lot to handle. Clementine has survived this far, so we’re curious to see what her final fate is meant to be.

Will Clementine ever meet up with anyone else from her past?

Clementine has been a staple of these games from the start. Fans connected to her relationship with Lee, the man who became her adopted father in the first game installment. While Lee died at the end of season 1, we have also seen her be helped and hindered by other main players in the games. Will she meet up with Javi from A New Frontier again, for example?

Will she really be able to take care of AJ alone?

Speaking of AJ, we don’t know what will happen to AJ and Clementine in episode 2 of The Final Season yet. Clementine has done her best to take care of him, and considering her age and the struggles she faces, she has done a great job. We hope we get to see how their special story plays out.

Will she always have to take care of herself or will she find a home and family of some kind again?

While at different times in the franchise adults have helped Clem, she has always ended up on her own. Adults like Kenny from the first game often tried to be there for her but ended up failing her in many ways. Clem really hasn’t been able to rely on anyone completely since Lee and has struggled to find a place to call home. We hope those left to complete the game can offer us some kind of resolution for Clem in this regard.
