Wonder Woman of the Week: Samira Wiley for her epic Emmy win

Our Wonder Woman of the Week is Samira Wiley, as we celebrate her Emmy win and overall talent and skill.

This week’s Wonder Woman of the Week is Samira Wiley because she’s someone we’ve been wanting to talk about for a while, and her Emmy win gives us a great excuse to do just that. Wiley won her first Emmy for Drama Series Guest Actress for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale. She also presented an award at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards and looked amazing while doing all of this.

We have loved Samira Wiley’s work on television including her roles in Orange is the New Black and The Handmaid’s Tale. She provides such depth and nuance to the characters she takes on, and you naturally feel attached and sympathetic to them because of her impeccable acting skills. We also want to celebrate her because she is a queer woman of color who often plays queer women of color on TV. This is important, and we hope she takes on many more roles like this in the future.

Wiley’s Emmy win is also a historic Emmy moment. This year was the first time that African-American actors won all four of the guest star Emmys.

Of course, it is all too ridiculous that these kind of milestones are just happening in 2018, but we applaud them nonetheless, celebrating talented people who are finally being recognized for their work.

The other guest star Emmys went to Tiffany Haddish for her work on SNL, Ron Cephas Jones for This Is Us, and Katt Williams for Atlanta.

Congratulation to Samira Wiley on her win! She definitely deserves it, and we can’t wait to see the work she does in the future in what we are sure will be a long, successful career.
