Chadwick Boseman, Chris Hemsworth and others attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards, making it one miniature Marvel reunion.
Despite everything that happened in Infinity War, it’s good to know that (in real life) all of the Marvel heroes are still intact and definitely not blown away to dust.
And on Wednesday night, we got all the more confirmation that the Marvel cast is A-okay thanks to the GQ Men of the Year Awards. The Awards ceremony honored (coincidental) two Marvel men in particular, Chadwick Boseman and Jeff Goldblum
Boseman took home the award for International Man of the Year. And for a man being honored by Gentleman’s Quarterly, nonetheless, he sported a fabulous tan, double-breasted suit — tagging Virgil Abloh and Louis Vuitton on Instagram to show off his style. In the same Instagram post, Boseman showed some major love to Marvel co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Kaluuya, Tom Hiddleston and Jeff Goldblum, who were also there.
Hemsworth presented the award to Boseman, and later wrote on Instagram: “Piss off, Thanos! You can’t take away my friends. Wakanda forever! Congrats to GQ’s International Man of the Year, @chadwickboseman.”
GQ gave the award to Boseman for the monumental success of Black Panther this year. On their website, they wrote a quick, touching tribute saying:
"Chadwick Boseman may have starred in a film that took $1.3 billion at the box office, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of all time, but its success was far greater than numbers on a page. It showed up Hollywood’s outdated ideas of what could be successful and what couldn’t. More importantly, it showed a generation that they, too, could be superheroes."
The Haig Club Icon award was awarded to Jeff Goldblum this year. The actor stepped out in a dazzling gold suit jacket, paired with a sparkling, dark metallic buttondown — something matching his equally dazzling personality. During his speech, he thanked his stylist Andrew Vottero (whom he met through GQ). And we have to thank Vottero, too, for blessing us with this well-dressed Goldblum.
At the awards ceremony, Thor Ragnarok co-star Tom Hiddleston presented the award to Goldblum. Giving him a totally worthy James Bond description, GQ honored Goldblum’s achievements by writing:
"Jeff Goldblum is a man men want to be, women want to be with, and whose own planet probably wants him back. He is a man who is such a one-off, he seems to have invented a cadence and rhythm of speech that is all his own. Because even in human communication, why follow?"
The awards ceremony was chockfull of other stars (who’ve yet to join the MCU), including John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Luke Evans, and even Charles, the Prince of Wales (who received The Editor’s Lifetime Achievement Award For Services To Philanthropy).
