Fans of the Avatar: The Last Airbender have new content to look forward to as two books about Avatar Kyoshi are in the works.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is still a favorite TV show for many even though it’s been years since it’s been off the air. (10 years, actually, if you can believe it.)

This series, and the follow-up show Legend of Korra, has had many comics and graphic novels to expand on the universe over the years. This is great as it keeps the universe alive and allows fans to engage with the characters in a new medium and learn more about their stories.

Now, according to Entertainment Weekly, Nickelodeon’s partnered with Abrams Children’s Books and is going to release a series of young adult novels that are set in the universe.

These novels are going to be about Avatar Kyoshi, who made her debut in the original series. She was the longest-living Avatar who died at 230 years old. Not very much is known about this character as she only appeared briefly in the TV show, but many fans would like to know about her. There will be two books released, and they are being written with consultation from co-creator of the series Michael Dante DiMartino by author F.C. Lee.

The first book will be called The Rise of Kyoshi and is going to explore her backstory and the founding of the Kyoshi Warriors and the secretive Dai Li. Here’s the official synopsis from the Abrams Books website:

"F. C. Yee’s The Rise of Kyoshi delves into the story of Kyoshi, the Earth Kingdom–born Avatar. The longest-living Avatar in this beloved world’s history, Kyoshi established the brave and respected Kyoshi Warriors, but also founded the secretive Dai Li, which led to the corruption, decline, and fall of her own nation. The first of two novels based on Kyoshi, The Rise of Kyoshi maps her journey from a girl of humble origins to the merciless pursuer of justice who is still feared and admired centuries after she became the Avatar."
