Insecure preview: Issa and Molly take a step back, for better or worse

On this week’s episode of Insecure, Issa and Daniel go to bed, and hopefully, that will be all they do this time around.

Sexual history makes Issa and Daniel strange bedfellows

Insecure is about to deal with a slightly sticky situation that carried over from last week. At the end of “Familiar-Like,” Daniel offered to let Issa have his bed so that she could stop torturing her neck and back on his couch.

We learn from the episode preview that Issa and Daniel are actually sharing the bed. Because why eliminate the awkwardness of living with someone you used to sleep with, when you can just add to it by literally sleeping right next to him?

Also, Issa seems like a less than stellar bedmate. She eats in bed, leaves crumbs, and doesn’t at least swipe them off the sheets. I won’t be surprised if a couple episodes from now Daniel is back to being irritated with Issa because he has ants.

Anyway, in addition to Daniel and Issa taking bunking to another level, Issa finally has a lead on an apartment, although its amenities leave a bit to be desired. According to Kelli, the apartment has a half bathroom so Issa would only be able to shower at the YMCA after 6 p.m. Even though Issa needs to stop playing with fire by living with Daniel, I’m not sure she should settle for a crappy apartment that doesn’t even have a shower. Seriously? The most basic apartment should have that.

“New job, who dis?”

Elsewhere, Molly starts working at her new all Black firm but instead of being held up on a pedestal, she finds she’s on the lower end of things. She doesn’t even have an office yet, because hers has been used for file storage. What’s going to be really fascinating about Molly’s plot is that she’s starting a new job and having to work her way up the hierarchy as a 30-year-old woman. The young, recent college grad who’s just getting their start has been done to death. I’m looking forward to watching Molly’s journey as a lawyer who went from being well established (albeit under-appreciated) at her old job, to starting again at square one.
