Principle photography has begun for the Amazon Studio feature film The Aeronauts and the first look image of Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones has been revealed.
Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne have not starred across from one another since their success in The Theory of Everything in 2014 where Redmayne won his Oscar for best performing actor for his role as Stephen Hawking. Jones starred directly opposite Redmayne as Hawking’s wife, Jane Hawking.
Both have been extremely busy since then. Redmayne has been busy working on the Fantastic Beasts series amongst other projects; while Felicity Jones has appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Monster Calls, and other major feature films.

The Aeronauts, is directed by BAFTA nominee Tom Harper, who has been involved in War & Peace and Peaky Blinders and has been written by an individual who also has a connection to the Wizarding World as well. Jack Thorne, best known for his work in the stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has put pen to paper for The Aeronaut.

Set in 1862, The Aeronaut will follow Felicity Jones’ character, Amelia Wren, a wealthy young widow, and an ambitious scientist called James Glashier, who is played by Eddie Redmayne.

The two board a hot air balloon with the intention of going higher than anyone has ever gone before. This journey because hazardous as they realize the higher they go, the thinner the air is. With the chance of their survival become ever smaller, they soon learn things about each other and themselves, as their true selves are revealed.

Production for The Aeronaut is underway at the moment. Amazon Studios are yet to announce a release date for the feature film.
