There’s a baby Niffler in Fantastic Beasts 2 and it’s adorable as you’d think

We’d heard that the Niffler was having babies in Fantastic Beasts 2, but what they’d look like was up to the imagination. Not anymore, as a first-look image has been released and it’s just as adorable as you’d expect.

The Niffler is having babies in Fantastic Beasts 2. That’s nothing new or surprising anymore but we’ve now finally got our first-look image. And yes, they are just as adorable as you would think. Entertainment Weekly shared the first official image and we can tell they’ll be just as mischievous as the one we got to know in the first movie.

The image doesn’t just show us what the babies look like, but also the size. In one of the first images, the baby Niffler looks like its zooming off on top of a cork. It’s about the size of said cork, which suggests these are tiny creatures that really can just sit in your hand.

In fact, concept art has also been released to get another idea of the size. Hypable shows that the creatures are going to be just slightly larger than a coin. Oh, just how much are these creatures going to get up to considering the amount the Niffler did in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?

More creatures in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

As well as unveiling the baby Nifflers, we also get to find out about three new creatures added to the latest instalment into the Harry Potter prequel movies. One of those we got to see relatively clearly in the trailer: the Kelpie, which is an underwater creature from Scotland and can be ridden.

More from Harry Potter

A second may have been in the trailer. This is the moose-like Leucrotta, so not only are we getting something as tiny as the baby Niffler but something as big as some of the largest creatures on Earth.

Finally, there’s the Augurey, which has already made an appearance in the universe. You’ll know about it if you’ve seen Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Delphi “Diggory” has an Augurey feathers tattoo and the feathers are part of the play’s logo.
