Kelly Clarkson is headed for daytime TV with a possible talk show
Kelly Clarkson has been a rising star since winning American Idol. Now the country music crooner is set to host her own talk show.
Kelly Clarkson may make a different kind of debut in 2019. Already famed for her powerful singing voice after winning American Idol and topping the country music charts, Clarkson is now working on a talk show pilot. Sources close to NBC told Broadcasting & Cable that the network is filming the show with a possible premiere of autumn 2019.
NBC Entertainment is filming the pilot as part of Clarkson’s talent pact with the company. The group is responsible for NBCUniversal Television Distribution, which encompasses first-run TV station development.
We live in an era where limits are continually being redefined for where to seek entertainment. Consequently, Kelly’s TV show might appear on a different platform, in syndication, or via another arrangement.
As for why NBC should choose Clarkson, she’s demonstrated her abilities to captivate an audience this year on The Voice. Competing with experienced coaches Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, and Blake Shelton, the country music songstress won with her protégé, 15-year-old Brynn Cartelli.
In addition, Kelly delighted viewers as the host of the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The country music star also participated in NBC’s Red Nose Day Special.
Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock are parenting two children, River Rose and Remy Alexander. The talent manager also has two youngsters from his prior marriage.
In addition to Clarkson’s talk show, 2019 could bring some new celebrities to the small screen. Telepictures, which is the division of Warner Bros. focusing on first-run shows, has filmed a pilot with the one and only RuPaul. Broadcasting & Cable also reported that some other well-known (but as yet unnamed) stars are rumored to be working on their own shows.
However, there’s one face bowing out from the talk show competition. Despite all the energetic efforts of Harry Connick Jr., his talk show will end before this autumn.
Clarkson already has a strong track record when it comes to her singing success. She’s dropped eight studio albums and taken home three Grammys, three MTV Video Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and two Academy of Country Music Awards.
But the talk show world, as Harry Connick Jr. just discovered, is talented when it comes to lasting longer than a few seasons. Kris Jenner, for example, seemed like a natural with her reality TV show background, but her talk show didn’t even last as long as Harry’s. The Queen Latifah Show delighted the diva’s fans… but also couldn’t survive.
