Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery: How to finish crest challenges with plenty of time left over

Part of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery involves taking part in crest challenges. It’s time to complete them without stress and without losing more time than you need.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has a number of crest challenges throughout the game. You need to do them on a timer, which can throw many players off. You’ve got several days to complete the challenges, but why take the whole time if you don’t need to?

By collecting the crests, you get rewards, including gems, coins, and even limited-edition clothing. So you want to make the most of them and complete them with plenty of time left over.

It’s all about the classes

When you complete a class, you get a star. Every star you earn is a crest for the challenge. Once you get enough stars, you can collect the rewards. While you don’t need to collect the reward right away, it’s worth going it while it’s on your mind so you don’t run out of time!

You’ll need to gain between 10 and 12 crests per day. Considering this could mean spending 12-17 hours in a class, it’s understandable that you want to get through the crest challenge a little easier.

One of the best things you can do when taking on a crest challenge is to forget all about the story quests for the time being. Unless the quests involve classes that you can complete, you’re not going to earn anything so ignore them for now. Play smarter, not harder.

Opt for one-hour classes

Since you need to do the classes, you’ll want to get through them quickly. You’ll need to do a mini quiz when collecting the reward to start working on the next star. A lot of the time you can choose the classes, so do something that you know.

One-hour classes are possible to complete with a full bar of energy. You won’t need to wait to recharge and then go back in before your time is up. Remember the amount of energy a class will use up differs as you go up in the years—the classes are harder so more taxing.

You’ll gain two stars for a one-hour class, at least. Sometimes you can gain five! You’ll also lose less energy per star for a one-hour class than you will for the longer ones. It works out more economical to do the shorter classes, unless you’re running out of time and need three to five stars left over.

It’s not possible to control when you get access to the five-star classes, but it’s worth keeping an eye out for them.

Complete the story first

If you can, get through the story for the year first. You can then unlock classes as you go and hopefully, the crest challenge will open at the right time. There’s no guarantee of this, but it makes things a little easier for you.

When a Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery challenge is available, assess whether you have the time and it’s worth it. If you need 20 crests in 10 hours then you’re not likely going to complete it so it may be a waste of your time, unless you just want to get some sort of experience in getting a star or two.
