You’re in the middle of a fight on Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and you run out of energy. Now, what do you do? It’s time to get your hands on free energy.
We all know the issues with the energy on Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. The game is set up to encourage you to buy energy packs so you can quickly complete the challenges. That’s great if you wanted to spend the money in the first place. But what if you just want to play a free game? Can you get free energy without waiting the eight hours to recharge?
The short answer is yes. The long answer? Well, you need to find where the free energy in the game is. We want to make that easy for you by putting all the options in this one article.

Are you ready to get your hands on free energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery? Here are all the spots you can go – some of them you can’t get access to right away, but they’re useful for the later years.
The East Towers
There are two options in the Easter Towers. Pay a visit to the Charms Classroom. There’s an empty painting that isn’t so empty after all!
The second option is between the Astronomy Tower and Divination Classroom, where Peeves the Poltergeist tends to hang around.
The West Towers
There’s only one in the West Towers at the moment (more may be added at a later date). Go to the left of the Prefect’s Bathroom to the flower painting.
Lower Floor
The west of the Lower Floor has two options and both are in the Great Hall. Go to the torch to the right for one option or stock up from the middle suit of armor on the right.
In the east, you can go to the concrete bench that sits between the History of Magic Classroom and Library. Look out for the stacks of books on that bench.

The Dungeons
There is one option in the Dungeons. In front of the Kitchens, you’ll often find a House Elf leaning against the wall.
Castle Grounds
When it comes to the Castle Grounds, you’ll need to take a trip to Hagrid’s Hut. No, unfortunately, it’s not Hagrid that actually gives you the free energy, although that would be cool. There’s a stick on the ground just in front of the hut.
The Forbidden Forest
Speaking of Hagrid, though, take a trip to the Forbidden Forest. Just to the left of the Spider’s Lair is a spider web that will offer free energy.
Hogsmeade
After Year Two, you’ll be allowed out to Hogsmeade, which is the last place on the list for free energy. Go to the alley between Honeydukes and The Three Broomsticks. A student on a sled has the precious gems you need.
Don’t forget about your pets and friends
During the challenges, you can also get extra energy from some of your pets and your friend exchanges. Pets do cost money, but there’s a benefit of having one on your side. You can stack the energy, overflowing the bar and keeping reserves. That means you’re less likely to run out of energy during the game.

If you’ve played The Sims before, you’ll be aware of the ability to level up friendships. This is something you can do in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. When you level up, you have the chance of gaining free energy when you most need it.

Watch ads for free energy
Don’t want to spend money on your energy? Jam City has now opened the option to watch ads for free energy. The ads will take 30 seconds and you’re instantly offered the energy in return. It’s like watching ads for money, which many of us do through the likes of Swagbucks.
You’re only given this option when you have completely exhausted your energy to get the option of the ads.
We’ll keep you updated when there are more options available to get free energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
