Summery Dresses

The sassiest and most interesting dresses in Mamma Mia! were worn by one-third of Donna and the Dynamos and one of Donna’s best friends, Tanya, played by Christine Baranski (and Young Tanya, perfectly by Jessica Keenan Wynn). Rich and thrice-married, this made a lot of sense with her character – she could afford the high-end pieces, and she also had a ton of sass.

Dresses have some advantages over pants when it comes to breathability. They can also quickly take you from casual to sophisticated, which is a nice feeling when you’re on a summery vacation, often living and sweating in swimsuits and tank tops.

There are so many printed/floral/bohemian/hippie dresses out there to choose from, but the popular vintage label Gunne Sax comes to mind. In the early aughts, their dresses were highly-coveted eBay auction wins.

I’d like to think that this dress would be a product of the Gunne Sax label, if they created something in 2018, for the social media-obsessed generation. Its beautiful cut and print, in Greek blue & white, would be perfect for wandering around – and falling in love – in the Mediterranean region.
