Cher is releasing an entire album of ABBA covers and 2018 is saved

Want Cher singing even more ABBA songs? Well, you’re in luck! The Mamma Mia star is releasing an entire album of covers.

If we could turn back time and put Cher in ABBA, we would definitely do it. The consolation prize is having an entire album of covers sung by the iconic star. After her version of “Fernando” in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, fans wanted more and more of the actress and musician.

So she said okay and decided an entire album was a good idea. Now that we know it is happening, the real question is: What songs is Cher planning on including? With “Fernando” already being taken, there is quite the line up of songs that Cher could attempt.

“Mamma Mia” is an obvious choice because the minute ABBA is mentioned, the song comes up. However, it would be fun to see Cher tackle “Money, Money, Money”. She is already a theatrical performer so her voice fits with ABBA almost perfectly.

Why it has taken this long to get her involved with the band is a wonder to us all but at least she’s now giving us ABBA lovers what we’ve always wanted. That is, if she includes “S.O.S”. A song almost ruined by Pierce Brosnan in the first Mamma Mia movie, Cher would give the song the justice it deserves.

If we want Cher to make us all cry, she could tackle “Slipping Through My Fingers,” a song about children growing up and not needing their parents anymore. It would be heartfelt, emotional, and definitely leave us in tears by the end.

As Cher told Kathie Lee Gifford on Today, she was a “huge fan” of the group. “I saw the musical on Broadway three times and was dancing in the aisles with everybody.” Cher added she loves the film because “it shows women being in control of their life.”

We will have to see what journey Cher takes us on. At least we know we’re heading to Greece with her in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, coming out July 20.
