Fans of Aquaman will get to see the first trailer for the movie at SDCC 2018. And on Twitter, director James Wan has decided to offer a sneak peek at one scene from that trailer.

Over the weekend, Aquaman director James Wan took to Twitter to let fans know that he was working on the finishing touches for the trailer that will be released at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. The still itself features one of the kings of the sea calling forth the whales.

And while we may not be able to pinpoint exactly which king is shown in the image, as CBR speculates, it is either Ocean Master or King Atlan. While we may not know who is being featured in this movie still, what we do know is that Aquaman is going to be truly epic in scale.

From the images that have been released thanks to Entertainment Weekly, the hints from the cast and crew, and even this particular still, we can tell that Aquaman is sure to be a grand and elaborate offering in the DCEU.

While it may not be Jason Momoa’s Aquaman calling forth the two whales shown on the screen, that doesn’t take away from the grandness of the imagery.

As we recently discussed, thanks to the image of the Fisherman King’s kingdom, we also know that at least some of the seven kingdoms will make an appearance in Aquaman, and perhaps this scene has something to do with the different kingdoms and what they can do. Or perhaps this is part of the confrontation between King Orm and King Nereus that was shown in one of the exclusive images released by EW. Either way, nothing says power and dominion over the sea quite like calling forth whales in a spray of ocean water while standing on a rocky shore.

Of course nothing really says Aquaman quite like seeing Jason Momoa in the role of the titular character, with trident in hand under the sea, as everything from sharks to whales swim around him. And with the new poster released on the movie’s Twitter account, reminding people to tune in for the trailer being released on July 21 at SDCC, that is exactly what we got.

While the Aquaman solo movie will not be our first time seeing Momoa in action, this will definitely be his chance to shine and show the world exactly why he is the future king of the sea. Based on this new movie poster, we can definitely see what makes him the right man for the job.

With less than a week until the first trailer for Aquaman is released, we have a lot to look forward to, especially if the trailer is as epic as the image James Wan showed us suggests. Now we just have to wait and see which king has called forth the whales, and if Aquaman will be able to handle whatever comes swimming his way.
