Kate Middleton could inherit Princess Diana’s title when Charles is King

When Prince Charles becomes king, Kate Middleton’s royal title will change. And now we know what it will be, and it is truly emotional.

We all know that there will come a day when the monarchy will change, and Queen Elizabeth will no longer be the queen. It will be a moment with many huge changes to the royal family, including a possible title change for Kate Middleton.

Prince William is in line for the throne behind his father, Prince Charles. Thus at some point, Middleton could see her royal status change. Prince Charles currently has the title Prince of Wales, and that would pass down to his son William when Charles is crowned King. Per Express, Kate Middleton could then be offered the title Princess of Wales, once held by the late Princess Diana.

The title was also offered to Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Charles’ current wife. However, while offered, Camilla chose not to assume the title out of respect for Princess Diana and her sons.

For Kate Middleton to have the same title that her husband’s beloved mother had is both beautiful and sad. Although the title will apparently be offered to Kate Middleton, this does not mean she has to accept it, and she too could turn it down out of respect.

If she does choose to take on the title of Princess of Wales, it is sure to be an emotional decision that many people will most likely appreciate, and approve of, considering how well-loved Kate Middleton is. At the same time, this decision could also have a lot of meaning for Prince William. His wife would be carrying on his mother’s legacy in her own way.

Even before Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, they worked hard to keep Princess Diana’s memory alive. Since their wedding, they have continued to do so. They even included Diana in their daughter’ name. It seems rather fitting to think of Middleton taking on the title of Princess of Wales.

While it may be sometime before any of this happens, it is still an emotional thought that has us all looking to the future. When the time does come for Kate Middleton to decide if she will take on the title once held by Princess Diana, we know that she will make the right decision not only for herself, but also for her family.
