Along with Rihanna’s Nine Ball, Helena Bonham Carter’s Rose Weil is another integral member of the Ocean’s 8 team that really puts in the work. As a fashion designer whose popularity has waned and who is also in debt, she has everything to gain. The first bit of work comes when she is the bait to get uppity actress Daphne to choose her as her stylist for the Met Gala. This happens when she thinks that her rival, Penelope Stern (played by Dakota Fanning), is planning to tap the designer as her stylist.

Next, Rose helps to convince Cartier to loan out the object of the heist, the Toussaint. While there, the glasses that she’s wearing send the scanned image of it back to Nine Ball’s computer for replication.

And, in what is probably the most pivotal moment of the movie, Daphne tries on the necklace. Rose discovers that there is a special security magnet to prevent it from being stolen. She takes a video of the magnet and sends it to Nine Ball, where she in turns contacts her sister to help fix the possible failure to the entire heist.

Whew.

Rose gets her groove back at the Met Gala by wearing a hand-painted rose gown and crazy floral headpiece. While we were cheering for her, we still think that you should try this trendier, more summery look. Co-chair of this year’s actual Met Gala (with Rihanna!) — Amal Clooney — wore a look with an overskirt vibe, if that helps?
