Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger series premiere review: First Light

Now let’s dive into the second episode of Cloak and Dagger’s premiere.

Not-So-Short Summary and Analysis

Both Tandy and Tyrone are trying to figure out how they did what they did. If you could make light daggers or teleport, wouldn’t you want to do it all the time?

Both of them also want answers. Tandy wants to know if that skeez survived her stabbing (he’s in the ICU, and there’s a detective going over the crime scene). Tyrone wants answers from his mystery cop with the cheek scar.

Tandy and her boyfriend need $10K to get her a brand new identity, and we get a fun swagger-filled scene with lots of rich people about to get swindled. Or an unlucky maid of honor about to lose all the tip money.

We get a glimpse at Tandy’s boyfriend’s happy place, them married and happy. It freaks her out but leads her to the maid of honor with all the money.

Ty’s basketball team corners him and makes him pay for missing practice. Oh and he goes after the cop with the scar. With a baseball bat. But he loses his edge at the last second and heads home instead.

And he sees his mom’s worst fears: losing both of her children.

Tandy gets her new documents and takes off in the “just married” car (not very conspicuous, driving an old school Cadillac). And her boyfriend gets taken down by the detective after Tandy.

As Tyrone hunts down the cop with the scar to kill him, he disappears as he shoots the gun… appearing right in front of Tandy in the middle of the road. Cue a car crash.

Badass Moment of the Episode

Watching Tandy and her boyfriend schmooze their way through a fancy wedding was highly entertaining. Aren’t wedding crashers the best?!

Best One-Liner

“Resting basic face” should definitely be a commonly used phrase.

Next: Sebastian Stan could have been Captain America instead of Bucky Barnes

It seems like the show will have some fun as we dive deeper into the action. The parallels between these two characters create some winking cinematography. Also, who else wants to know more about this mystery detective? She didn’t talk until the very last scene.

Next week’s Cloak and Dagger takes them to the house of voodoo. And Tandy looking a lot like Cinderella because why not?
