Sherlock is getting an escape room in London, so at least we have something new

The wait is over for Sherlock fans, and we now know “The Game is Now” will be an escape room. It opens October 2018 in London.
The creators of Sherlock warned us that we shouldn’t expect a new season any time soon, but at least they’re giving us something new. Even though there won’t be any new episodes any time soon, Sherlock is getting its own escape room debuting in London. So hopefully that can hold a few fans over.
Two weeks ago, Sherlock creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss announced that a new Sherlock adventure would be coming. They didn’t say much, but many fans guess accurately that it would be an escape room. Sherlock would be proud.
The premise of the game is that you and your friends will be taking the place of Sherlock Holmes in a mystery around London. Even though you’re confined to the space of the escape venue, you’ll still get to “visit” some of the most popular and recognizable sets from the series. Hopefully, that means there’ll be a replica set of the iconic living room in 221B as well.
As said in the announcement video two weeks ago, the stars of the show will certainly be there — in a way. The official website says the game features “Sherlock cast members, with brand new, specially recorded video and audio sequences.” So sadly, Benedict Cumberbatch won’t be on call to help out your team out in person.
For those interested, tickets in London are currently being sold for games starting at the end of October, running through January 2019. From the looks of it, most of the October and November slots were already been filled in under a few hours. But there are still opens times in December and January.
If you can’t make it to London, The Game is Now will also be hitting other cities around the world. No information has been given on which cities just yet, but they also announced a new social media challenge will be coming soon for everyone to participate in.

While it’s not precisely the golden season 5 that we were looking for, it should still be something that lucky fans will get to enjoy for the time being. All of our favorite characters will be back, and it’ll even give you the chance to feel like you’re part of the Sherlock universe. So good luck. And try to channel your inner Sherlock, not Anderson.
