Avengers: Infinity War posters in China no longer care about spoilers

Perhaps the biggest spoiler of Avengers: Infinity War (aside from who dies) has been flat-out revealed on a new poster for China.

Movie posters can send a lot of messages — like who’s important in a film, what tagline it has, or even just who’s part of the cast. But this may be the first movie poster that this writer has ever seen that says “this movie has already made so much money that it doesn’t matter if I spoil the very last plot point of the film.”

And yet, in a find by CBR, that is exactly what a Chinese poster for Avengers: Infinity War has done.

No, seriously. If you have somehow managed to avoid either seeing the movie or finding out any spoilers, now would be the time to avert your eyes or click away. We’d understand.

"Official poster – Infinity War has passed 2.2B yuan in China from marvelstudios"

Yup, that’s the Captain Marvel pager that Nick Fury drops in the very last scene of the film, heralding her arrival in 2019 both in her own movie as well as Avengers 4.

Originally, she was slated to appear in Infinity War, but let’s face it: as we argued when we found out, it was hard enough to fit everyone who does appear in the movie, so much so that there have already been promises for more Captain America and Black Widow in Avengers 4.

But for this to be advertised on a poster just a little over a month after the film’s release seems patently ridiculous, at least on its face. Of course, even though we view this as a spoiler, that operates on two levels. One is that which we’ve already mentioned — that at this point it doesn’t matter if you see it, because it’s made so much money.

But the other is one of intrigue. Captain Marvel’s symbol isn’t as familiar because we haven’t even met her yet, technically speaking. For fans who want to know how she’s incorporated, this poster could finally entice them to buy tickets.

What do you think of this poster? Is it too much of a spoiler even this late after the film?
