With the announcement that HBO will be removing Harry Potter from its streaming service, will this see the movies migrate over to Netflix?

Currently, the only way to stream Harry Potter is through HBO. HBO has held the rights for some time now and anyone wishing to watch all eight of the wizarding world movies either had to buy the DVD/Blu-Rays or sign up to the HBO network.

However, with HBO removing the movies from their service at the end of June. Could this be the moment many of us have been waiting for? For all the Harry Potter movies to make their way over to Netflix.

Harry Potter and Netflix

It’s been something many fans have been hoping would happen for some time but it has never materialized sadly for one reason or another. This could be the point however that Netflix takes the opportunity to add the franchise to their streaming options.

Harry Potter and SyFy

But, the movies are already earmarked for SyFy. Part of the NBC network, they made the announcement that they would be holding a Harry Potter marathon weekend and then showing continuous reruns of the movies after.

This is great news for those who have cable but never wanted to pay the extra for HBO. For those who only watch Netflix, however, this could be bad news for you as they may not be able to acquire the movies.

Yet just because SyFy will be showing the movies does not mean other networks can’t either, like Netflix. A deal can always be made but right now it looks like the movies will still be a much-wanted, but never to materialize addition to the streaming network.

What do you think? With HBO no longer showing the movies do you think Netflix may try and get hold of them? Do you think SyFy would be willing to let them? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.
