Taylor Swift has made her award show return on Sunday night (May 20). It was a surprise appearance that her fans have been waiting for but that’s not the only exciting thing that happened.

After gracing the red carpet in a beautiful blush colored dress, Swift was ready to attend her first award show in two years. The very thing she feared for awhile, was the very thing she faced head on fearlessly. She’s bold and courageous and the BBMA’s are proving this to be true as she wins award after award.

The first award Swift received was for Top Female Artist, and instead of shining light on herself, she chose to shine light on other women who have empowered female artists to be able to create and do what they love to do most. Her speech was empowering, brave, and courageous. It was one that we as females need to hear, allowing us to see what an amazing role model Swift truly is. We love her and we are so proud of all she has accomplished.

“I want to thank all the female artists who paved the way for us to get to do what we do the way we get to do it,” Swift said. “All the new female artists who are killing it out there right now, we’re so inspired by you. And I don’t know, shout-out to the future female artists who just picked up a guitar or learned how to play the piano. And to the fans who care about the music that we make, thank you so much.”
