Little is known about Meghan Markle’s dress for the royal wedding. We speculate which designers could be making the princess-to-be’s dress for the big day.

As if the royal fever wasn’t high enough back in 2011 for the nuptials of Kate Middleton and Prince William, now North American royal watchers get the chance to see one of their very own marry into the royal family.

Like any wedding, the biggest question is always “but what about the dress?” Or at least, that’s the question I ask about every wedding. A bride’s wedding dress will almost always be the talk of the whole ceremony. But if you’re marrying a prince, the dress will be the talk of the entire world.

Meghan Markle has already proven her sense of style throughout her engagement, but there are several names in the running for the designer of her wedding gown. Many assume she will go with a British designer, the most fitting way to enter into British society. Others think the fashionista will opt for a lesser-known underdog. But this is the royal wedding, and it’s either go big or go home! So who are the top designers on everyone’s lips leading up to the nuptials?

Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen has been a major name in the running for Meghan’s dress since the beginning. The obvious reason for the speculation is because Kate Middleton and her wedding party were outfitted in McQueen, and her dress set the fashion world abuzz.

In fact, betting on McQueen being the designer of Meghan’s wedding dress got so intense back in February that they actually halted bets! However, it seems unlikely that Meghan would wear the same designer that Kate wore, especially in a span of only 7 years. She has to stand out with her own unique, royal style if she ever wants to come into her own in the royal family.

Roland Mouret

Designer Roland Mouret is actually a close friend of the actress, and his name came into the speculation almost immediately as well. Speculation intensified when the designer spoke about Meghan in an interview, and his coy comments got people buzzing.

“Meghan knows really well what she likes and the main thing with Meghan is to listen to her and work in collaboration with her,” Mouret said, adding: “I’ve already said too much.”

Mouret probably isn’t working with Meghan for her big day, but the designer knows that the buzz around him is great publicity, why not use it to his advantage? Besides, with her upcoming entrance into British society, she’s more likely to wear a British designer.
