The Charmed reboot on The CW might not measure up to the original in the eyes of fans, but we still need to watch it. And here’s why…
The CW released the extended look at the Charmed reboot today, and plenty of fans of the original series are not happy. But they still need to watch the show, and it isn’t all about Charmed.
When it was originally announced that the network was working on a reboot for the series, there was definitely a mixed reaction on social media. Some fans were outright opposed to the idea, while others were willing to give it a chance. Still others were just happy to have a show back that offered powerful women at its heart.
It’s the idea of powerful women leading a series that leads me to why I think the Charmed reboot is a series we all really need to watch. When The CW and Supernatural announced the idea of a spinoff focused on the ladies of the Supernatural world, everyone was excited.
The idea of Wayward Sisters was so beloved that it trended on Twitter. People wanted a series about the women of the Supernatural world. Then everyone’s hopes and dreams were crushed when the network decided not to pick the show up to series.
Well, if we want Wayward Sisters, we need to give the Charmed reboot a chance. We have to show The CW that we want powerful women leading a series on their own, and Charmed is all about powerful women.
Just like the original series, the new Charmed focuses on three sisters who are also witches, as they come into their powers and learn what it means to rely on each other. While the three new witches might not be the Halliwell sisters many of us loved from the original show, that does not mean we won’t love the Vera sisters as well.
Not only do we need to give these new ladies a chance to prove that they have what it takes to live up to the legend of the Halliwell sisters, but we don’t know if the show will find a way to pay homage to the original series in a way that makes us all happy. We have to give it a chance first, and no, watching the extended trailer is not giving it a chance.
