Archie and friends are getting their own YA book series now that Scholastic has acquired the rights to the world of Riverdale. And we have some ideas!

Riverdale is coming full circle, and we are going to be getting even more of Archie, Jughead, and the rest of the gang, as Scholastic has acquired the rights to their world. This means that after going from comic books to a successful television series, Archie and friends are about to get a Young Adult series of books as well.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed that there are already stories in the works, including a Riverdale Student Handbook and even a look at what the town was like before the start of the series’ first season. While we certainly love the idea of learning more about Riverdale before Jason Blossom was killed, and even getting to see the book Jughead has been working on throughout the series, we want more.

We have some ideas for the upcoming Riverdale books, which would give us some more of the stories we really want to see. This includes some of the side characters we never seem to get enough of, and even some of the main characters who give us glimpses into different sides of themselves.

Dark Betty

I don’t know about you, but one storyline I think would make for a great book is that of Dark Betty. Remember when Betty went all warrior princess meets bad girl on football player Chuck? That hasn’t been the only time she’s brought out her bad Betty persona either.

While we may have only gotten to enjoy Dark Betty twice, this is definitely a side of the character I think we can all admit to wanting to see more of. Usually Betty seems to be the voice of reason, but have her go dark, and watch how much more we can explore.

Chuck Clayton

Speaking of Chuck, here is a character we don’t see a lot of, but what we have seen makes me want to know more. When he went out with Veronica before going all bad guy who shames girls, he seemed like a really nice person. Who else thinks there is a lot more to his story than just being a jerk?

Having seen a glimpse at what a nice guy Chuck can be, I think his story could be just as diverse and convoluted as the rest of the Riverdale gang. Sure he is a star athlete, but who else is Chuck? How did he find himself getting sucked into shaming Veronica? These are just some of the questions I think a book could answer.

Kevin Keller

Besides Chuck, there is another side character I think should have his own book, and that is Kevin Keller. Not only is he the sheriff’s son, which is enough to make him an interesting character in his own right, but he is also openly gay. As a series that seems willing to embrace all people, I think a book dedicated to Kevin would be an amazing accomplishment.

Fans of Kevin would get to learn more about who he is, and perhaps even learn more about his personal journey to accepting himself and his sexuality. He may be Betty’s best friend, but Kevin is so much more than that, and I think he deserves to get some attention for being himself, and that means getting a book of his own.
