Avengers: Infinity War proves one of the characters has to be the Boy Wizard

If you watch the right version of Avengers: Infinity War, one of the characters transforms into the Boy Wizard. Well, he makes a reference that proves he must have dreamed of being Harry Potter like the rest of us.

If you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War yet, you may not want to read this. While it’s not full of major spoilers, it does have some. It really depends on what you class as a spoiler or not. You’ll know if you’d class anything a spoiler, and if you do they come right away.

For those who have seen it, you’ll want to grab a copy of the French-dubbed version of the movie to find this joke. Apparently, the SpongeBob SquarePants joke from the English version doesn’t translate well enough into French, so a Harry Potter joke was needed.

The Boy Wizard reference is made to Ebony Maw, who is one of Thanos’ henchmen. During the movie, Tony Stark calls him Voldemort. Honestly, this is more fitting than the SpongeBob SquarePants mention in English because Ebony Maw looks so much like Voldemort, all the way to the nose!

But what this really proves is that Tony Stark is the Boy Wizard. After all, he managed to make the quip while the world ended around him. Plus, Harry Potter has been out for 20 years. Tony and Harry are around the same age, so they must be the same person. Well, maybe if they’re not the same person, Tony picked up the books as a kid and dreamed of getting that letter to Hogwarts all those years ago.

It really is a shame that the Harry Potter reference wasn’t used in the English version of the movie. It would have likely gone much further than a reference from the under-the-sea cartoon.
