Game of Thrones season 8 spoiler fans might have a bit of a mystery on their hands when it comes to what’s going on at Ballintoy.
Warning: Although they’re not the biggest out there, there are some small, possible Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers below.
Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers might have just taken a turn for the interesting, if not the downright weird. Yesterday, we here at Culturess showed you a round-up of photos, news and more centering around Ballintoy in Northern Ireland for season 8 production. Today, though, a strange contradiction has emerged.
Gather round, fans. We have a mystery.
Irish Thrones had it as of late last week that Game of Thrones would be occupying the area for “more than one week” at minimum:
More than one week is all we are going to say for now.

The harbour only reopened for the weekend, due to reclose. The area you refer to is right next to the harbour as well which remained off limits.

It’s been about a week since we first got wind of the news that Ballintoy would be used again. So … so far, so good, right?
Not so much. This morning, u/EveryFckingChicken over on r/freefolk posted a photo captioned “As of this morning, filming in Ballintoy has finished.”
In the words of Oprah, “So what is the truth?” Never fear, because our sister site Winter is Coming has been on the case.
According to Oakleaf Photography, it appears as though shooting has indeed come to a close at Ballintoy, mentioning that they’ve been told cleanup was happening and noting that the accouterments of production were also gone by Wednesday afternoon local time:
All the production trucks cast and crew trailers where packed up and away yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) The harbor was still closed but a security guard told me there was a team down tidying up. I know they have a road closing order valid until 10pm on Friday.

Irish Thrones also weighed in:
Looks like they finished quicker than expected, they could also return quite easily if need be, so don't rule that out.

That leads us to conclude that whatever happened there was important enough to do on-location as opposed to on a set somewhere, but it also isn’t something like a fight scene. Additionally, in the comments on r/freefolk, other users point out that the actors who play the Greyjoys probably weren’t in Ireland at the time. That’s not not confirmation that Ballintoy is Pyke. But it does lend credence to Irish Thrones’ theory that it’s an invasion that involves dragons. Additionally, one user in the r/freefolk thread mentions a rumor of Unsullied at Ballintoy. (Take that one with a grain of salt. There isn’t any photographic evidence backing it up.)

With such a quick shoot, could there be a montage of Daenerys reconquering the Seven Kingdoms (and the other territories) at some point? It’s not the most outlandish idea out there now that we know things moved that fast at Ballintoy.
