J.K. Rowling has disappointed non-theater fans by sharing that there isn’t going to be a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie.

If you want to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, you’ll have to see it at the theater. “Harry Potter” creator and author shares that she has no plans in turning it into a movie. The West End and now Broadway production was created specifically for the stage and turning it into a movie would just be “lazy.” It was also written specifically for the stage, so there’s no need to turn it into something else.

As much as many will agree, there are various people waiting to see a movie version come to light. Of course, there’s the rule of “never say never.” In the future, the author or someone else connected to the universe may decide to transform it for cinema and TV screens.

Creating the theater production hasn’t been easy. There’s a lot of magic and it needs to look real for those watching from their seats. Stage productions don’t have the liberty of adding CGI afterwards to create the special effects, so finding a stage that could handle it all was difficult. Fortunately, it wasn’t impossible.

If the production was ever turned into a movie, Daniel Radcliffe could be at a point where he reprises the role. After all, Harry Potter wouldn’t be the same without the young man. He’s never purposely distanced himself from the role since it was his breakout one, although he does like weird and unusual opportunities. Nobody from the original movies has said either way if they would reprise their roles if it came to it, but then there’s never been the question of it.
