Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 17 preview: The Honeymoon

Agents of SHIELD has the clock ticking down to the end of the world. As our team races to find a way out of it, who will stand in their way?

You know, Agents of SHIELD is probably still stuck in the same time loop.

I think I open every episode’s preview with that same exact line.

It sure as heck feels like Agents of SHIELD has us stuck in the same time loop. But… there are enough minor things that could be actual differences from the last cycle on this fun wheel of Ka.

Maybe Deke wasn’t supposed to make it back to the past. Perhaps on the last go-round, FitzSimmons didn’t know they were invincible and didn’t go on a wild goose chase. Or lock Mack in Fitz’s cell.

There’s a lot that could be different.

The official synopsis for this week’s episode, courtesy of ABC:

"While an agent’s life hangs in the balance, Fitz, Simmons and Yo-Yo attempt to neutralize a weapon that could play a role in Earth’s destruction…"

Obviously, they’re going after the Hydra tech that will merge someone with Gravitonium. And, you know, create the Destroyer of Worlds. They started this easter egg hunt last week after trapping Mack in Fitz’s cell.

Plus the preview for this week’s episode showed a showdown between Daisy and Ruby. I have a feeling it won’t be as intense as it looks. More of a preview of a grand finale rather than the actual standoff.

Is anyone else concerned about this episode’s title? “The Honeymoon” was something Simmons had wished for just a few episodes ago. Please don’t tell me that’s what they’re calling their mission to find the Hydra tech.

Next: Infinity War may have Doctor Strange and Star-Lord working together

It feels like our SHIELD team is fractured nearly beyond repair. From the fissure between Daisy and Fitz to Daisy’s witch hunt to find Coulson, something is going to give. I just don’t know if we’re ready for what Agents of SHIELD has in store.
