In celebration of 20 years of Harry Potter, a TV special is being aired tonight, April 11, on The CW Network. Originally a BBC documentary special Harry Potter: A History of Magic has now made its way across the pond.
The 90-minute long special, which is an unusual runtime for a CW program, will bring you an in-depth look at how J.K. Rowling created the Wizarding World. Opening up her private archive, Rowling has allowed this TV special to be put together to give fans a chance to see her earlier drafts and drawings that have been hidden away for so long.
If that wasn’t enough for you, Harry Potter cast David Thewlis, Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, Miriam Margolyes and Mark Williams will also feature in the special as they read extracts from the books.
Harry Potter: A History of Magic is part of the celebrations
This is all part of the wide variety of celebrations that are happening this year. Its been 20 years since “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was first published in the US and in honor of that, a year’s worth of celebrations have been planned.
Yesterday, illustrator Brain Selznick unveiled his new line of Harry Potter book covers that he has designed for the 20th-anniversary editions. The illustrations are both beautiful and unique and when each of the seven books are placed side by side, they form a magical wonder.

The exhibition “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” will be coming to New York in October this year. Featuring some new exhibits that were not in the British exhibition it will most likely be a once in a lifetime experience.
Coupled with the new Fantastic Beasts movie set for release at the end of the year and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuting and smashing it on Broadway. The 20 years of Magic celebration is going to be a year all Potterheads will not want to see end.
