Get ready to visit the Upside Down. Stanger Things is coming to this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. Will you find your way out of this maze?

The annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Hollywood Studios and Universal Studios Singapore will take a psychological twist this year. The event’s newest maze will feature the popular Netflix show Stranger Things. Do you dare to enter the Upside Down?

Every year, Universal looks to add new mazes and haunted houses to the very popular Halloween Horror Nights events. Last year’s new attractions included The Shining, Ash vs. the Evil Dead and Jigsaw from the Saw series. The addition of Stanger Things shows that Universal looks to keep evolving with pop culture shows.

This new HHN maze is a collaboration between Universal and the Netflix creative team. According to Universal, the new maze will feature an immersive experience into the Stranger Things world.

From entering the Upside Down to being chased by the Demogoron, each turn will feature a new, frightening experience. Given the popularity of the Netflix series, this new maze will surely have long lines.

While this new maze will surely bring many Stranger Things fans to HHN, the TV series is more of a physiological scare than the traditional horror scare. Traditionally, haunted houses and Halloween attractions focus on gore and the likes to produce the scare.

But by expanding into a more physiological scare, this new maze could have a longer lasting effect on the HHN guest. With the sense of the unknown and use of imagination, the immersive experience can extend beyond Universal’s gates — maybe that turn down a creepy dark street could bring a fan back to the HHN experience.

This announcement is just the first of surely many more HHN announcements over the next several months. In a separate announcement, Universal said that HHN would feature “nine brand-new mazes based on hit TV-shows and haunting original stories.”

It’ll be interesting to see which movies and series will be featured in these new mazes. The American Horror Story attraction was very popular as was The Shining. New attractions will probably focus on other new popular movies. Maybe It or Annabelle will be featured this year.

It remains to be seen if these new attractions can fill the void of The Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure show that will not return. While that attraction wasn’t necessarily the scariest at HHN, it was well loved. It will take something special to resonate with guests and have that particular attraction’s longevity.

Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most popular extra ticketed events at Universal theme parks. To give fans the opportunity to experience the scares more than once during the run, Universal Studios Florida has a Flex Ticket offer through June 6. With an online purchase, a guest can enjoy two nights at HHN with this Flex Ticket Offer.

Will the new Stranger Things maze at Halloween Horror Nights bring your Netflix nightmares into reality or is it all part of another dimension?
