The directors of Avengers 4 responded to a tweet confirming our worse nightmares about the secrecy of the next untitled Avengers movie.
Not that we weren’t freaking out already about all of the Avengers movies. Joe and Anthony Russo really added some extra salt to the wound this week.
The directors, who occasionally respond to fan tweets, responded to one in particular regarding the title of Avengers 4 — and it’s not very good.
Twitter user @occmarvel was worried that the spoilery Avengers 4 title would scare the you-know-what out of him. And the Russo Brothers had nothing to say but “It should.”
Gee, thanks, Joe and Anthony for adding to the stress we already feel about Infinity War. Of course, we’ve known the Avengers 4 movie to be unnamed for some time now. But we don’t need you rubbing how scary it will be in our face.
Previously, the film was dubbed Avengers: Infinity War Part II during a huge phase three release in 2014. A lot has changed since then about the timeline (like Captain Marvel being pushed back and Thor: Ragnarok getting a complete facelift).
But just how much could one title spoil? Well, it’s hard to say. The title will get its name from something that happens in Infinity War. Since most of the details for Infinity War are under lock, it’s not easy to call what will be in store for the next Avengers installment.
Some think that it’s Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet, due to some slip-ups that Zoe Saldana made during an interview. Given that storyline, that would mean Thanos would not have the full power of all the Infinity Stones in Infinity War and would collect them all by the end of the movie.
That would basically make Avengers 4 a “part two” kind of movie. Still, we appreciate them for wanting to have an original title.

So what are you hiding, Russo Brothers? We know spoilers are bad, but we just can’t help thinking about them. What do you think the next Avengers movie could be titled?
