Women to Admire: Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey has worn so many incredible hats: journalist, talk show host, actress, philanthropist. It’s no surprise she is one of our Women to Admire.
Oprah is the household name. Having built an empire for herself and still making an effort to do good for others, there are so many reasons we admire Oprah. Through her journalistic work as well as her producing, acting and philanthropic efforts, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Most recently, Oprah amazed us with her performance in A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay. Her role was quite literally larger than life and reminded us once again why we love her so much.
Aside from her acting, Oprah has also been a correspondent for 60 Minutes, tackling the divide currently taking place in our country. Unsurprisingly, one of her segments was put on blast by President Trump — thus again, we love her.
Through all of this, Oprah has remained her quirky self and given us so many iconic moments, many of which happened on her television show. Its amazing how much this woman has accomplished, having been born into poverty in Mississippi.
From co-anchoring the local evening news at age 19 to being dubbed the “Queen of Media,” Oprah has most definitely got it going on. She is an inspiration to those who are not sure if they can beat the odds.
“Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity,” Oprah has said. “Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.”
Stand she has, and today she is one of the most prominent figures in pop culture. Some even want her as president, an idea she’s considered herself.
Personally, I don’t see her running for president as many would want but in many ways, she is the People’s President.
For these reasons (ahem, bread) and many more, we’ll always be on Oprah’s team.
