Harry Potter style bar changes name under orders of Warner Bros

A Harry Potter style bar in the Greater Manchester area has had to change its name after Warner Bros contacted them regarding ownership rights.

Formerly known as the “Horcrux Emporium”, the Harry Potter style bar has had to change its name after Warner Bros contacted the owner regarding ownership rights. Warner Bros gave bar owner, Tom Benson, the choice of applying for a license or removing any references to the Wizarding brand.

The bar, which has been open since October, provides patrons with a magical cocktail experience. It has become so popular that it has caught international attention, which is probably how Warner Bros picked up on the bar trading without a license.

Tom has since decided that pursuing a license is not worth it and has decided to change the name, and he has done it in style, by getting his patrons involved. Tom proposed two new names for the bar, the “Horcrucé Emporium” and the “Crux Emporium” and put it up for a vote on Facebook.

Other names were suggested, “The Place That Should Not Be Named” and “Diagonally,” were also suggested but not put up as a voting option.

The vote has since closed and the new name for the bar is the “Crux Emporium.”

All other references to the Wizarding World have also been removed, as per requested by Warner Bros.

Although the experience would have certainly not been fun for Tom at the time, he has commented on how it has increased the bars Social Media engagement. As the old saying goes, even bad publicity is good publicity.
