Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Riding into battle twice over

Game of Thrones season 8 could take something else away from Daenerys Targaryen, if these new theories turn out to be true.

Warning: While we don’t have the inside track on Game of Thrones season 8 scripts, we do have the capability to write our own scenes based on spoilers.

Sometimes, we here at Culturess see theories based on Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers that we can’t top. It happens to everyone, really, and it’s happened with this latest report from Watchers on the Wall.

No, we can’t top Watchers’ guess that there will be undead Dothraki in season 8 of Game of Thrones (and if you don’t believe us, check out the photos that Watchers has, which show green-suited riders atop horses). What we can do, however, is create a possible scene for you to imagine and play around with in order to answer Watchers’ questions.

Let’s face it: the Dothraki are not particularly difficult to kill. They don’t wear a significant amount of armor. Their big strategy is to charge and overwhelm you with speed and numbers. Characters on this show have put the words Dothraki and horde together for a reason, after all. Since the Night King has taken down a dragon and seems to have an even larger horde of undead, our money has to be on the zombies here.

This does mean that we could see more of a pitched battle than first thought, however. Alternatively, it’s possible that the Dothraki may be a scouting group that were killed and converted. There aren’t many riders, for one.

There’s a third theory, however. It’s possible that the Night King could pull something akin to the scene from “Hardhome” and start resurrecting dead Dothraki while Daenerys watches. It would neatly parallel that episode. Furthermore, Jon and Daenerys would then have another shared and similarly traumatic experience to bond over.

Besides, it would just look cool. After the undead giant as well as Viserion’s death and rebirth, Game of Thrones season 8 has to do something to further reinforce how much of a threat the Night King really is. Since coming to Westeros, the Dothraki have stayed relatively unscathed.

Just think about how chilling it could be to hear undead Dothraki screaming their new war cries, perhaps even storming and overwhelming another army. (Watchers goes with “powerful” and talks about the Daenerys connection more, but look, we’re all about leaving the show’s audience spooked as much as possible.)

What’s your theory on this? Do you agree with us and Watchers that this could be dead Dothraki?
