In Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’s milestone episode, Coulson’s deal with Ghost Rider is revealed and our SHIELD team makes you feel all of the feels.

This is it! This is Agents of SHIELD’s 100th episode! We made it, guys. It’s finally here.

Now how does everything pan out?

Not-So-Short Summary & Analysis

Firstly, kudos to the opening credits that show every title screen we’ve seen in the last 100 episodes.

We’re looking at what happens when three monoliths go off together. We have a space-time rift! And lots of things are pouring out, including Lash and a Kree. Fitz calls it a “fear dimension.” It can reach inside their minds, take their deepest fears, and manifest them physically.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “All the Comforts of Home” – Coulson and team set out to rewrite the course of humanity’s fate, but they’re unaware that their efforts will dramatically change one S.H.I.E.L.D agent’s life, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” FRIDAY, MARCH 2 (9:01-10:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. CLARK GREGG, IAIN DE CAESTECKER, MING-NA WEN, HENRY SIMMONS

His quick fix involves the gravitonium in Deke’s belt and one of the SHIELD crew having to make the sacrifice to place it. Coulson tries to go it alone, but gets bulldozed by an angry yet truthful speech by Daisy and passes out from whatever sickness he has.

He has dead tissue spreading through him from that Loki-spear-through-the-heart. Ghost Rider burned through the voodoo/Kree/magic holding him together. That was the deal he made. At some point, his heart will just stop beating.

Honestly, it’s an episode that hurts. Chloe Bennet makes you feel Daisy’s pain in every word she says.

“There’s no SHIELD without you,” she tells Coulson, and it feels so true. Sure, Quake heads up SHIELD in the comics—lots of people do—but it’s not SHIELD without Coulson. Or at least Peggy Carter.

The rift keeps getting worse. Coulson goes in to seal the rift and encounters Mike Peterson, aka Deathlok. He tells him Coulson’s never been anywhere, TAHITI wasn’t a thing. He’s still on the table and it’s a code blue and all of this has been in his head. All of these 100 episodes.

It’s so easy to buy into. The flashes that pass as Deathlok tells him everything he’s made up make it hurt even more. Coulson makes it through thanks to the real Deathlok.

And then we get FitzSimmons’ wedding! Finally! After 100 episodes!

Holy crap and Deke is their grandchild. Okay, well, that escalated quickly.

Badass Moment of the Week

Deathlok decimating the fake Mike Peterson was pretty awesome and then that flip over Lash was even better!

Best One-Liner

“You’re real, right? Please tell me you’re real,” Coulson says to the actual Mike Peterson.

Well, friends. This was not as game-changing as the last game-changing episode. But it fits for the 100th episode — a lot of grandiose speeches, all the feels, and then a fun, giant nugget of truth at the end.

I have a lot of feelings about the reveal of Deke’s parentage, but in the end, it doesn’t really surprise me. I’m also bummed that the deal with Ghost Rider doesn’t help the world stick around.

Well, next week’s Agents of SHIELD looks like the team is going to try to save Coulson (and fight some fun bad guys on the way).
