Women to Admire: Hermione Granger

The trio of Harry Potter would’ve never survived without Hermione Granger, which is just one of the reasons she is one of our women to admire this month.

Of course, the series is called Harry Potter. It’s about Harry Potter and whatever he was doing to help save the world. However, pretty much everyone can agree that Hermione Granger is the real hero of the franchise.

When introducing the character in Harry Potter in the Philosopher’s Stone, J.K. Rowling established that Hermione’s greatest strength was her intellect. Along with her loyalty, she quickly became one of the best literary heroines of modern time.

Thankfully, the eight Harry Potter films helped her popularity reach even greater heights. Over the course of ten years, Emma Watson acted as the custodian of a character that millions of girls all over the world looked up to. Thanks to Watson, everyone had a Hermione Granger to look up to both on and off screen.

Because Hermione’s parents couldn’t perform magic, Hermione’s abilities seemed all the more special. Nevertheless, she remained committed to her school work and worked so hard to prove just how useful she was. When people still bothered her, she showed them she didn’t need a wand to make a point.

She wrestled with what her peers thought of her — her looks, her quirky intelligence, all of it. But if it wasn’t for Hermione, who constantly sacrificed her needs for the good of Harry Potter, Gryffindors, and wizards everywhere,- Voldemort would’ve likely taken over.

Hermione showed the sort of patience and emotional maturity that many of us strive toward. Her impact in the books can be seen everywhere, yet she endures as an accessible character to everyone. Regarded as the brightest witch of her age, she hardly behaved arrogantly toward anyone else. Instead, she was confident (which to some may have seem arrogant, but that’s another battle witches and women fight every day).

Furthermore, her leadership and compassion helped Hermione earn the title of best female character of all time according to an internet poll conducted by The Hollywood Reporter in 2016.

As a literary character, she belongs to everyone. For many, she’s the true hero. Unlike Harry Potter, who stumbled into the hero life thanks to something that occurred when he was an infant, Hermione repeatedly chose it.

She was the most resilient and unwavering character in the Harry Potter series. This also makes her one of the most memorable characters, and of course, one of our women to admire.
